Guiding Principle 5
I interact with parents and the community.
INTERACTING WITH PARENTS AS A MIDDLE-MANAGER/GRADE SUPERVISOR/GRADE COORDINATOR
I am happy to interact with parents, guardians and citizens within and throughout my school community. I consider myself to be an altruistic, approachable and generous educator who cares about the development of my fellow citizens. I demonstrate this through a plethora of communiques to parents and guardians about the well-being of students in my charge. I utilize conventional methods as well as technology to reach parents and guardians.
My Interactions With Parents:
One of our most important internal stakeholders
I readily speak to parents at Grade Meetings, apprising them of the important aspects of Exams, SBAs, etc. I organize parental workshops such as the 2018 Cornwall College Parent Examination Preparation Workshop and the 2021 Grade 9 Parents' Month Workshop. I have collaborated with my Vice Principal to organize a meeting with parents of students who are underperforming. I even designed the instrument that Cornwall College has adopted to record academic intervention. This instrument is called the Academic Intervention Record Form (A.I.R.Form).
THE ACADEMIC INTERVENTION FORM
I designed the Academic Intervention Record Form to ensure that parents have a clear insight into the reasons students are underperforming and to offer them solutions to help their children improve.
PARENTS' MONTH WORKSHOP
I organized this workshop to engage parents and knowledgeable individuals within my community to impact our students positively. The workshop was well-attended and beneficial to all.
