I possess and have exhibited the qualities and requirements of a teacher of the highest standard, namely: mastery of a plethora of teaching skills, depth and scope in my content area, technological awareness and integration, success in enhancing students’ achievement, active involvement in professional development, reflective and proactive in my approach and transformational leadership style. I am also a results-oriented and data-driven Jamaican educator of the 21st century.

I have amassed over a decade of experience as a classroom teacher of English Language, English Literature and Communication Studies. Additionally, I have been given the privilege of being a Grade Supervisor, Communications Coordinator/ Public Relations Officer and Acting Head of Department of English, Literacy and Law at Cornwall College.
As a Teacher of English “A” & B”, I have distinguished myself over the years, consequently, my performance appraisals have been consistently commendable in every assessment criteria. I have been known to incorporate teaching strategies and assessment that cater to the multiple intelligences in my classroom.

I have expanded my reach within the school environment by initiating the Cornwall College Tourism Action Club and the Parents’ Exam Preparation (PEP) Workshop. I have also conceptualized and created several tools that improve the performance and reflective capacity of my colleagues at Cornwall College. As a result, my colleagues and I have been able to do reflections and data-oriented analyses of each teaching-learning session and identify specific areas of strengths and weakness in our lessons. This data-driven approach to the teaching-learning process has increased the likelihood of preparedness, use of teaching-aids and a more positive approach to teaching within the Department of English at Cornwall College.

I believe in empowering all members of my team and ensuring their success. Consequently, as a leader/middle manager at Cornwall College, I have invested in training, certifying and celebrating my team members.

In short, I am a dedicated, creative, transformational and passionate educator who invests thought, innovation and a drive for excellence inside and outside the classroom.

Very truly yours
